Since its inception in 2005, the Yellow Line of Metro do Porto has served as a vital artery connecting Porto and Gaia. Spanning three kilometres acts as a lifeline between the two major municipalities of the region. Breaking barriers and extending the reach of sustainable mobility, the Yellow Line continues to evolve, now with its new extension.
Alstom, a global leader in sustainable and innovative transportation solutions, has recently partnered with Steconfer for the installation of the signalling technology along the Yellow Line extension of Metro do Porto.
The Yellow Line extension key goal is to connect destinations such as Hospital Santos Silva, RTP, and Vila d’Este underscoring its commitment to serving the community's needs. Improved access to essential services and cultural centres enhances the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The main aspects covered under the signalling contract encompass the following equipment:
- 3 technical rooms;
- 100 track circuits;
- 23 traffic signs;
- 136 fixed speed signs;
- 17 turnout motors and their local commands;
- 77 balises;
- 100 km of signalling cables to connect them all.
