Limerick-Foynes Line

Iarnród Éireann has contracted Steconfer for the comprehensive renewal of the permanent way on the Foynes/Limerick railway line, extending between Shannon Foynes Port and Limerick.

The primary goal of Shannon Iarnród Éireann is to restore the railway line that spans from Limerick Station at the Limerick Check Cabin (located at the 0 milepost) to Foynes Port (positioned at the 26 ¾ milepost).

The main aspects covered under the track contract encompass the following:

• Controlled level crossing - 13 level crossings
• Uncontrolled level crossing - 50 level crossings
• Installation of breather switchs - 10 units
• Railway ballast track construction - 42670 linear meters of track
